More about the programme:
On All Things Considered this week there’s another chance to hear a programme first broadcast in April 2016 when Roy Jenkins and guests marked the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death by exploring the relationship between Shakespeare and religious faith.
We examine the religious influences on Shakespeare and his works, discuss the religious turmoil of his day and ask what, if anything, we can know of Shakespeare’s own beliefs.
The theatre director Sir Trevor Nunn has reportedly argued that Shakespeare has a hundred times more wisdom and insight about life, than the Bible. But is he right?  And do Shakespeare’s works constitute a secular bible?
