In the first of two special programmes, Phil Kelsall talks to Nigel Ogden about his 40 years as Blackpool Tower Ballroom organist with recordings from throughout his career. Phil also recalls how he took over from Ernest Broadbent in 1977, his memories of the Tower's other great star of the organ, Reginald Dixon, who also clocked up 40 years at Blackpool between 1930 and 1970, and his thoughts on why the sound of the Tower Ballroom's Wurlitzer continues to attract thousands of visitors to the venue every year. Plus a look ahead to next week's programme of highlights from Phil's recent 40th anniversary celebration, recorded last month at Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
