Brian's hugely relieved Lilian's moving back to the Dower House. Though it is going to seem very quiet and dull without her, sighs Jennifer ruefully. When Lilian re-appears at the door with a suitcase, there's a moment of panic for Brian - but she's only come to collect the last of her things. She confides to Jennifer she's unhappy with some of Miranda's furnishing choices at the Dower House. She intends to chuck out every last trace of her; and she's sure Justin's equally keen to remove all reminders of his ex.

David wants to take all the blame for the IBR outbreak when they make their compensation offer to the other farms. Ruth feels that's just another lie to add to Pip's litany, but David thinks there's no point dragging Pip's name through the mud. She's the farm's future after all. Ruth suggests they say nothing; simply that Brookfield will take responsibility. Pip feels bad that her parents are covering for her.

Sympathetic Jill talks to Ruth, who's also feeling wretched over her rift with Pip. Jill helps her to see there might be a way forward whilst admitting she feels Ruth's been harsh. Ruth concedes she wants to fix things, but she's not sure she can yet.
