Tune in today as Chris launches 500 Words 2017, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 2’s story-writing competition for children aged 5-13.
He’ll be revealing the stunning new location for the 500 Words Final and will be talking to the hosts of our super special 500 Words Live Lesson – a webcast going out to thousands of schools across the nation, bursting full of top writing tips. The webcast, fun-fair themed and hosted by Blue Peter's Barney Harwood and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Breakfast's Naga Munchetty, will be available to watch live from 11am at www.bbc.co.uk/livelessons.
With over half a million entries since it first launched in 2011, 500 WORDS is the world’s most successful story-writing competition for children and is an open invitation to the wide world of imagination. 123,436 children across the UK sent in their stories in 2016. Entries to this year’s competition open in today’s show and close at 7pm on the Thursday 23rd February 2017.
The winners will have their story read live on air by the world’s most popular entertainers to the Breakfast Show’s millions of listeners … previous names have included Julie Walters, Tom Hiddleston, Sir Kenneth Branagh and Benedict Cumberbatch. Not only will finalists rub shoulders with superstar celebrities, they'll also be serenaded by fantastic pop-stars performing at the Final.
