Would you pay for food that is already destined for landfill? Donna McArdle from The Real Junk Food project talks to Clare English about a new pay as you feel supermarket that aims to reduce food waste in the UK. Also, the trees and hedgerows are full of fruit at this time of year and it's all free. Clare goes foraging for apples and Chef John Quigley from Red Onion rustles up an autumnal slaw. As Scotland holds its first ever beer awards, Scottish Craft Brewers Association president Malcolm Cruickshank tells us about the rise of popularity in home brewing and how for him this is not a hobby, it's very much an art form.

John Quigley’s Crisp Autumn Slaw.
½ red cabbage2/3 radishes
1 purple carrot
1 bulb fennel
1 stick celery
1 (sharp) apple
1 lemon, juiced
8 pecans
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
pinch salt
1 tbsp groundnut oil
1 tbsp walnut oil
Method
1. Finely slice the red cabbage, apple, radish, fennel and celery and combine in a large salad bowl. Grate carrot into bowl.
2. Toast the pecansÌý in a dry frying pan for two minutes and set aside.
3. For the dressing, take a separate bowl and to it add the balsamic vinegar, a little salt and both walnut and groundnut oil. Whisk them together.
4. Now toss all the components together in a salad bowl and rest for 30 min.
