Neonicotinoid insecticides and bees, fishing in Africa and farm-produced ice cream
A new study links the decline in bees to neonicotinoid insecticides. Our look at farming in Africa continues. And how does an ice cream producer cope with changes in the weather?
The large-scale, long-term decline in wild bees across England has been linked to the use of neonicotinoid insecticides, according to a new study. Over 18 years, researchers analysed bees which forage heavily on oilseed rape, a crop widely treated with "neonics". Our correspondent sifts through the data. Farming Today Producer and Nuffield Scholar Anna Jones continues her study of African farming with a trip to a fish farm. And we hear how a dairy farmer and ice cream producer copes with our unreliable summer weather.
