Saying Yes and Taking Risks
Lee Craigie sits in for Gillian Russell and talks about risk-taking with Alastair Humphreys, plus he and Suzy Beaumont visit a Salt Cave to find out if they improve health.
What does risk-taking do for us and how much does it change as we age? Alastair Humphreys has circumnavigated the globe on his bike and walked across continents. As he sets off on a risky trip of a different kind - busking around Spain and living off what he makes - he tells Lee Craigie about the risks he has taken, what he's learnt from them and why he thinks it's important for us all to take more risks.
Karl Moore, author of 18 Rules Of Happiness, talks about what happens when we say "yes" more. He's been practicing this for 18 years and loves the randomness it brings to his life. He says we should all try to be risk averse but opportunity open! Personal Best explores the pros and cons of saying yes.
Salt Caves have been opening up across the UK but what exactly are they and what happens in a typical session? Lee Craigie and Suzy Beaumont visit the Salt Cave in Inverness to find out whether they can actually benefit our health or are they just a passing fad?
