BRAC
is one of the biggest non-governmental organisations in the world. True to our roots in Bangladesh we remain a south-south enterprise, now working in twelve countries in Asia and Africa to create opportunities for people to get out of poverty.Β
Chobi
Before BRAC, Chobi lived in a house without a door or windows and struggled daily to survive. Now she has her own business, lives in a warm home and provides for her childrenβs education.Β .
A proven approach
The first Sustainable Development Goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is ambitious, but we can make it a reality.
Β shows that families we work with leave a rigorously-defined category of βultra-poorβ and increase their incomes by 37 per cent. Their success is sustained over seven years, long after they stop receiving direct support.

New horizons
We are now working with ultra-poor women in South Sudan and Uganda to help them build a stable future. A BRAC team collaborates with partners and governments to help scale up this approach in other countries.
