Whether the prospect delights or appals us, the vote on EU membership seems set to dominate the news for the next four months.

Less likely to grab the headlines or appear in much of the campaigning material is the role that religion has played in shaping the identity of contemporary Europe.聽 Many of the key people who helped to found various European institutions did so out of deep religious convictions.聽 How much has what they dreamed of been realised? How religious does the continent remain?聽 And in a day of increasing secularisation, do faith communities have any significant influence on what governments decide?

Roy is joined by Ben Ryan, author of the report A Soul for the Union, produced by the Christian think-tank Theos; veteran 麻豆约拍 correspondent David Willey; The Rev Tony Peck, General Secretary of the European Baptist Federation, which serves three quarters of a million Baptists from Portugal to the far reaches of Russia. And Canon Dr Sarah Rowland-Jones, vicar of St John鈥檚 in the centre of Cardiff, who was a British diplomat when the Maastricht Treaty was being negotiated.
