Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

From Father Brian D鈥橝rcy a Catholic Passionist priest:

A helpful follower on twitter sent me these words of encouragement: 鈥楧on鈥檛 waste your time trying to fit in when God wants you to stand out.鈥

It was advice I needed to hear. It released a train of thought and it inspired me to drop everything, rush to the laptop, and get it down on paper to share this morning.

The most inspirational people I know have a lot in common and I always try to learn from them. When we hit the wall, as we inevitably do, we need to have the courage and the skills to keep going. We need a plan and we need to stick to it. That鈥檚 how to be fulfilled in life.

I鈥檝e learned not to waste time and energy dancing around problems.聽 I鈥檓 better off trying to find a solution.

Successful people get to work on their plans as quickly as possible and know how to keep going when times are tough. They are committed and commitment means doing what you said you鈥檇 do long after the mood in which you said you鈥檇 do it has passed.

They do the right thing over and over again because good habits get good results. Jesus gave us the same practical advice: when you put your hand to the plough, don鈥檛 even look back, he said.聽

Success is a stairway not a doorway, a process not a destination.

I used to think the motto 鈥淚f it isn鈥檛 broke, don鈥檛 fix it鈥 was sound advice. Not anymore.聽 Of course there is a time to enjoy success. Yet if we bask in success the world will soon pass us by. The time to kick on to better things is when things are going well. Be the best you can be, is a more fitting motto for today鈥檚 world.

I鈥檓 convinced now that when you want something you鈥檝e never had, you have to try something you鈥檝e never done.聽
