It has been announced that all maternity care in England is to be reviewed, after eleven babies and one mother died following "a lethal mix" of failures in a "seriously dysfunctional" maternity unit at Furness General Hospital in Morecambe Bay. Professor Cathy Warwick, General Secretary of the Royal College of Midwives and Dr Alison Phipps, Director of the Gender Studies Research Centre at Sussex University join Jenni to discuss if natural childbirth is being pursued at too high a cost for women and their babies.

A leading department store has launched a new project called ‘Agender,’ which includes a gender neutral clothing range. The aim is to challenge gender stereotypes. What does this say about the future of fashion and its industry? Reporter Anna Bailey spoke to the designers behind the clothes. Jill Leovy spent nine years working as a reporter for the LA Times embedded with the Los Angeles Police Department. Her book, Ghettoside follows the investigation into the murder of a police detective’s 18 year old son, and the police work done to bring his killers to justice. We speak to her about her work following the detectives, the mothers devastated by loss on a shocking scale, and some of the women brave enough to testify against killers despite putting themselves in danger.Â
