Stories

Singing to Remember
Songs of Praise visits Singing to Remember in Tiverton. Founded by musician Jenny Evans, funded Singing to Remember is a weekly event at St James Hall in Tiverton where people with dementia gather with their carers to sing their favourite songs, rhymes and hymns. We also meet Terry Sharland, who suffers from Vascular Dementia and his wife Gill to hear about their story of coping with the illness and about how Singing to Remember and God help guide them through the difficult time.

Standing up for Jesus
Songs of Praise visits St John the Baptist church in Weston Super Mare as Vicar Julie Birkett learns stand-up comedy tips from comedian Hal Cruttenden. After the comedy lesson, we see Julie perform an evening sermon including a comedy routine.

Sound of Wales

For St David's day, Josie visits the Gate Arts centre in Cardiff to meet Cath Wooridge who is a part of a Christian musical collective called 'Sound of Wales'.

Cath leads a singing workshop at the Victory Church in Cwmbran and explains how she draws inspiration from the spirit of the 1904 Welsh Revival and the landscape and people of the nation.
