Fran Scott and Greg Foot explore the science of sound, music and musical instruments in this series of short films for Key Stage 2 students.
Drawing inspiration from some great pieces of music, like Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and Holst's The Planets Suite, they discover that vibration is responsible for everything we hear. They reveal how string, brass, woodwind and percussion instruments work and then fashion easy to assemble instruments that are fun for children to make either in the classroom or at home.
House of Sound is full of fun, facts and 3D animation that take us inside musical instruments to make clear how and where their sounds are made. Find out how to make a woodwind instrument out of a carrot or follow the sound wave made by a trumpet through the human ear, where it is then turned into signals sent to the brain.
