Episode 13
Famous faces recreate their childhood holidays. Len Goodman takes impressionist Jon Culshaw back to Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands.
In his journey through time, Len Goodman takes impressionist Jon Culshaw back on the Edinburgh and Scottish Highland coach trip holiday he enjoyed with his family in 1980 when he was 12 years old.
Len surprises Jon by arranging an old-style 1980s coach to whisk them both on their tour of this most beautiful part of the world. Jon talks about the journey he would have taken from Ormskirk as boy, including his observations of fellow passengers and the driver, which led him to do impressions of them even back then.
Along the way they revisit some of the places Jon would have been to back in the day. They drop in on a glass-blowing workshop in Caithness where they make their own paperweight, and visit the hotel in Perth where Jon stayed and where Len teaches Jon the Gay Gordons dance. Here Jon talks about how special this time with his mum and dad was, and he can't resist a few sessions on the Space Invaders arcade game just as the 12-year-old Jon would have definitely done.
In a day packed with memories they also tuck into a packed lunch on the coach - complete with paste sandwiches, a bag of salt and shake crisps and a bottle of pop, talk about Jon's impressions on Dead Ringers and the time he managed to get through to 10 Downing Street and talk to Tony Blair who was prime minister at the time. Along with the layers of 1980s nostalgia, we also get some real insights into Jon's busy career and they have some fun along the way too.
