Ghoncheh Ghavami
Ghoncheh Ghavami is a 25-year-old woman with joint British and Iranian citizenship. In June, she went to see a volleyball match in Tehran, but was arrested because women are banned from watching live men’s football and volleyball. She ended up in prison and has been there since. Over the weekend, her lawyer said she’d been sentenced to a year in prison for spreading anti-regime propaganda. Jenni speaks to Ghoncheh’s brother Iman and Â鶹ԼÅÄ Persian TV reporter Rana Rahimpour

Jennie Lee, Baroness Lee of Asheridge was probably best known for her key role in the formation of the Open University back in 1969. We hear an interview she gave to Sue McGregor back in 1980 – which forms part of our archive collection – in which she recalls her career and her marriage to Aneurin Bevan.   Jenni Murray talks to Baroness Hollis, her biographer, about her legacy and impact on women in the modern world of politics.

Despite the UK making more than a billion rail journeys each year and the rail industry experiencing billions of pounds worth of investment with Crossrail and HS2 – fewer than 20% of people working in the sector are women. Jenni talks to Adeline Ginn, General Counsel for Angel Trains  and Founder of about why so few women thinking of a career within the industry.
The Physical and Emotional Cost of Osteoporosis
The impact of osteoporosis, when bones become fragile and liable to fracture, can have a devastating effect on a person’s physical and mental well being. Lack of pain control, reduced mobility and independence are key problems sufferers face. has recently issued a survey based on the experiences of more than 3,000 people with the condition. The majority of people who responded were women. It’s estimated that half of all women and 1 in 5 men over 50 will break a bone due to poor bone health. Dr Neil Gittoes, a consultant who specialises in osteoporosis and Christine Sharp, who was diagnosed with the condition, join the programme.
