Brit School Special

Claudia Winkleman presents performances from and interviews with Brit School pupils past and present.

For the next hour Claudia Winkleman will be going back to school.
She'll be looking at the story of past pupils from The BRIT School including Adele, Katie Melua, Amy Winehouse, The Kooks, Jessie J, Leona Lewis, and it's alumni don't just include stars from the music world but their Performing Arts section is equally successful. A past pupil whose star is definitely in the ascendency is Actor and Playwright Cush Jumbo who received rave reviews in "Josephine And I" playing the part of the ground-breaking performer Josephine Baker and Cush is off to Broadway to star alongside Hugh Jackman. And of course we can't forget Radio 1's Gemma Cairney. All of these young stars have passed through the corridors of the BRIT school's hallowed halls.
Also, earlier this year 44 pupils from the BRIT School achieved something that The Beatles didn't! They performed two of the Fab Four's albums live. We'll be reliving some of that energetic evening, with the multi-instrumentalist students doing a great job with "Sergeant's Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and "Abbey Road" recorded here at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Radio Theatre.
We'll hear from Principal Stuart Worden, former Head of Music Liz Penney plus many of the people that helped form this unique home of performing arts. If you or your children want a career in music or then world of entertainment then you can't miss "The Truth Behind The BRIT School".
