North East Wales is home to some characterful, if elusive, reptiles and amphibians. In Science Cafe this week,聽Adam does a little hunting in the windswept sand dunes at Gronant, near Prestatyn. Conservationists have succeeded in reviving the Natterjack Toad in this area, and they're now聽hoping to grow聽the tiny population of聽Sand Lizards in the same spot.聽He talks to Mandy Cartwright, a dedicated amphibian and reptile warden for the area, and to Kim Norman, who manages this Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI).

And they're not the only two devoted to聽scaly-skin creatures.聽 We hear from聽pupils at Ysgol San Sior, in Llandudno, who care for a veritable menagerie of Geckos, Chameleons, Skunk Lizards and Moroccan Dabtails. Headteacher Ian聽Jones聽says the cold-blooded creatures are聽both educational聽and inspiring.

They certainly inspired Adam, who snapped the tiny, Natterjack toadlet pictured above.聽聽
