Magazine for the deaf community. As Horizon celebrates its 50th anniversary, See Hear revisits an episode made 40 years ago which looked at teaching methods to help deaf people.
Horizon, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's long-running science programme, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2014. See Hear takes this opportunity to revisit a documentary made 40 years ago called Curtain of Silence. This documentary highlighted what were then ground-breaking new teaching methods and technologies to help deaf people speak and hear. We catch up with three of the people featured in the programme, as well as speak to an educational expert to find out how teaching methods and attitudes in deaf education have changed since.
