Not so long ago, every service in an Irish Presbyterian Church featured the singing of at least one β€œmetrical Psalm” – Psalms rewritten into poetic verses to Μύmake them more singable – and often sung in four part harmony. ΜύIt’s a musical tradition going back to the reformation – but these days, Presbyterian churches are more likely to be singing modern Christian songs. ΜύΜύIn a special programmeΜύKist o WurdsΜύwill be looking at where the Metrical Psalms came from – and where they’ve gone.
