Ian McCalman

Ian McCalman tells Phil Cunningham how he was captivated by music after first listening to his grandmother's 78s. He talks about his life in music and picks five special tracks.

For many years The McCalman's were one of the best know folk groups in Scotland. Loved by audiences for their strong vocals, sense of humour and interpretation of Scottish songs they had a huge following at home and overseas and before disbanding in 2010 the McCalmans had recorded 26 albums and produced 400 original songs

In this entertaining and revealing conversation from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Scotland archives Ian McCalman tells Phil Cunningham about 5 special songs including his favourite from his Granny's collection of 78's, a much-loved song from The Beatles and a song he wrote for his father.

Phil opens proceedings with the McCalmans song Smuggler before Ian reveals his five songs.
