Peinnseanairean ann am Portagail

Nuair a tha dùil aig daoine an dreuchd a leigeil dhiubh – tha a’ mhòr-chuid a roghnachadh fuireach far a bheil iad air a bhith trom beatha. Ach do chuid, tha iad airson rudeigin diofraichte fheuchainn – airson gluasad gu dùthaich gu tur eadar-dhealaichte – airson beagan grèine fhaighinn ma dh’fhaoidte. A-rèir aithisg a chaidh fhoillseachadh nas tràithe air a bhliadhna, tha Portagail aithnichte mar an dàrna àite as fheàrr anns an t-saoghal (às dèidh Malta) airson peinnseanairean Breatannach a tha airson gluasad thall-thairis. Tha Anne Lundon ann am Portagail far a bheil poileasaidh aca daoine bho air feadh na Roinn ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹, a tha a’ faighinn a’ pheinnsean, a thàladh dhan dùthaich.

Pensioners in Portugal

When people retire, many choose to stay where they have lived throughout their life. But many want to try something different; to move to a different country for a bit of sun, perhaps. According to a report published earlier in the year, Portugal is known as the second favourite place in the world (after Malta) to which British pensioners move abroad. Anne Lundon is in Portugal where the policy is to attract pensioners from all over Europe to the country.

Talamh àiteachais ann an Romàinia

Tha mòran chnapan-starra ma choinneamh dùthaich sam bith a tha a’ tighinn a-steach dhan Aonadh ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ch. Tha riaghailtean teann ann – agus feumar dearbhadh gu bheil iad deiseil air a shon. Tha a’ chiad latha den Fhaoilleach gu bhith a’ comharrachadh seachd bliadhna bho thàinig Romàinia dhan EU. Tha grunn nithean co-cheangailte ri inbhe na dùthcha san aonadh gu bhith ag atharrachadh an uair sin. Nam measg, tha na còraichean a tha gu bhith aig daoine bhon chòrr dhan EU air talamh àiteachais. Bidh an aon chead aig coigrich air talamh a cheannach ‘s a th’ aig muinntir na dùthcha fhèin. Tha seo a’ cuir dragh air tuathanaich ann an Romàinia aig nach bi an aon chothrom air iasadan banca – agus aig a bheil dòighean obrach seann fhasanta aca an taca ri dùthchannan eile. Tha Alasdair Friseal ann a Romàinia airson coinneachadh riutha.

Agriculture in Romania

Countries face various hurdles when going through the process of accession to the European Union.  The rules are strict – and countries have to demonstrate how ready they are. On the first of January, Romania marks seven years since the country became a member of the union. Factors surrounding its membership in the union will also change on this date. Romania must provide people from other EU countries the opportunity to buy farmland if they so wish. But this had worried farmers in Romania who claim they won’t have the same access to bank loans and work in an outdated agriculture industry compared to other countries. Alasdair Fraser is in Romania to speak to some of them.
