Assynt: A Memorial on the Mountain
As the two-minute silence approaches, Mark Stephen joins relatives of the victims and local people at the memorial on Ben More Assynt where a WW2 flight came to a tragic end.
As the 2 minutes' silence approaches, Mark Stephen visits a memorial site where, in a violent snowstorm in March 1941, the crash of a WWII Anson on Ben More Assynt brought a training flight to a tragic end.
The crash-site also became a burial-site; the remoteness of the area forced local people to make this one of only two sites in Scotland where the crew were buried beside their craft.
Mark speaks to relatives of the crew, and to local people who have cherished their memory.
