Gemma Hunt continues the current unit about people who’ve made a difference to the lives of others by considering the work of Dr Thomas Barnardo and the charity he founded, which still helps children to this day. In the story we hear how Dr Barnardo opened an orphanage for the homeless children of Victorian London and how the death of a young destitute boy prompted him to vow that he would do his best to ensure that no child ever had to sleep rough on the streets of London again.
