Adam Walton previews the Girls In Science conference which takes place in Cardiff next week for science teachers and educators,Μύwhich will bring together key figures from science and engineering to promote science subjects to young people, particularly girls. He hears from Professor Helen James from Glyndwr University in Wrexham, who has worked widely promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects to girls and women for over twenty years. Reporter Llinos Jones hears about a science workshop from Marion Sterrit learning leader for science at Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi in Holyhead. Adam chats to Jessica Leigh-Jones, Young Engineer of the Year who, through her father, was being taught the principles of science and engineering before she went to school. Reporter Alan Daulby visits Mike Corcoran at TechniquestΜύGlyndwr, who runs a workshopΜύmaking comic books themed around famous women scientists.ΜύAlso we hear from Pam Boyd, the cheif exective of Cast Cymru, who have organised the Girls in Science conference. Pam also discusses "Unpack Science" a new project to enable families to try out simple science experiments att home.
