Teenage Dreams, so Hard to Beat

Johnnie catches up with Damian O'Neill, of Derry punk heroes The Undertones.

Johnnie Walker celebrates the decade of Mrs Slocombe, Mr Humphries and Young Mr Grace.

This week he's in conversation with Damian O'Neill of the Derry punk group The Undertones. Joining the band after the departure of his brother Vincent in 1976, he took up lead guitar duties on tracks including, I Gotta Getta, Jimmy Jimmy and Here Comes The Summer. Together with Johnnie they'll revisit the formation of the band, recording in Mrs Simm's shed and the unexpected success that came when John Peel played Teenage Kicks twice in a row.

Also on the show the celluloid exploits of Ringo Starr and David Essex in That'll Be The Day will be revisited with sounds from the archive, and another ten out of ten classic will be added into Johnnie's Jukebox.
