Miscarriage death in Ireland
Savita Halappanavar went to the University Hospital Galway with severe back pains and was told she was having a miscarriage. Over the next three days and in βsevere painβ according to her husband Praveen she repeatedly asked for a medical termination which was refused as there was a foetal heartbeat.Μύ After the dead foetus was removed Savita was taken to a high dependency unit and then intenstive care where she died two days later, of septicaemia. Praveen Halppanavar claims his wife wouldnβt have died if sheβd been allowed a termination earlier. Mark Langridge thought he was helping out a lesbian friend when he agreed to become a so that she could have children. Mark Langridge says that they agreed he would not be legally responsible for the child or be named on the birth certificate and under these circumstances he fathered two children. Thirteen years later he has been contacted by the and is being asked to pay costs towards the children.Μύ Mark Langridge talks to Jenni to tell her why he is appealing against this decision.
