Clare Teal presents the first part of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Big Band's concert celebrating Fairfield@50. Including the music of the big band greats who have appeared in Croydon since the Fairfield Hall opened its doors on November 02 1962.
Tonight's show includes the music of Count Basie and Stan Kenton who celebrated his own 60th birthday at the Fairfield Halls in 1972. The conductor for this concert is American trombonist Jiggs Whigham who first performed at the Fairfield in November 1963 with Stan Kenton and also appeared as featured soloist with the Bert Kaempfert Orchestra shortly before Bert's death in 1980.
