Bob's session guest tonight is 90s country superstar Clint Black. With his marketable music and image, he paved the way for the New Country boom of the early 90s which catapulted country music into the mainstream and launched the careers of artists such as Brooks and Dunn, Faith Hill and, most successful of all, Garth Brooks. Clint Black's breakthrough happened in 1989 when his debut album 'Killin' Time' went straight to number one, providing him with 5 number one singles. Since then he's sold more than 20 million albums and has won four CMA Awards, including Male vocalist of 1990.
Later this month he will be in the UK as part of the CMA Songwriter's series, along with fellow country songwriters Bill Anderson and Bob DiPiero. In a session recorded last November in Nashville Clint talks to Bob about his life as a songwriter, and reflects on the twists and turns of his career as a recording artist.
