Gillian Welch in session

Bob's session guest tonight is Gillian Welch whose latest studio album 'The Harrow & The Harvest' has further cemented her reputation as one of the most influential figures in American roots music. Released in June this year the album features ten new songs recorded and produced by her husband and long-time collaborator David Rawlings.
The pair first met at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and together they moved to Nashville, where most of their work has been produced. They are hugely respected within the American music community and have inspired new generations of country and folk singers, songwriters and players. Their songs, which are steeped in nostalgic, rural imagery and evoke the wilds of Southern Appalachia , have been recorded by artists including Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, and Solomon Burke.
'The Harrow & The Harvest' is the long awaited 5th album released by Gillian - previous albums have included Grammy nominated 'Revival' and 'Time (The Revelator). Gillian Welch also featured heavily on the hugely successful 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' soundtrack album, which has just celebrated its tenth anniversary.
