Dorain Lynskey has been writing about music, culture and politics since 1996. 33 Revolutions Per Minute is a thrilling & moving history, told via 33 songs of the music that inspired social change. This turbulent relationship across 33 pivotal songs that spean 7 decades and 4 continents, from Billie Holiday crooning Strange Fruit to Green Day raging against the Iraq war.

J Mascis formed Dinosaur Jr. with bassist Barlow and drummer Emmett Jefferson 'Patrick' Murphy (aka 'Murph') in 1984. After Mascis dismissed Barlow from Dinosaur Jr. in 1989, he recorded several more Dinosaur Jr. albums until 1997, including the 1996 acoustic solo album.
