Mike Harding presents an hour of the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music including an interview with a grande dame of English folk: June Tabor.

For more than 30 years, June has been one of the most respected singers on the folk scene, revered for her bold and clear style and masterful interpretations of songs both traditional and contemporary.

June's highly anticipated new album Ashore is released on Topic Records this week, and on tonight's show you can hear her tell Mike all about it. We'll hear tracks from the album as June explains how seafaring and coastal themes inspired the song choices - choices that range from the traditional Great Silkie of Sule Skerry and I'll Go and Enlist for a Sailor, to a powerful and sparse rendition of Elvis Costello's song Shipbuilding.

Ashore is June's 13th solo album in a rich and varied career characterised not only by essential solo work but also fruitful collaborations with the likes of the Oyster Band, Martin Simpson, Maddy Prior and Les Barker.
