For Dani, at home with a new baby, social-networking has provided a vital support system, a sisterhood that she can tap into at 4am in morning when her baby won't sleep. For Anna Louise it's a way to launch her new business into to the US market from the comfort of her iphone. And for fashion obsessed Marie and Michelle, it's given them a voice they didn't even know they had.
However, while the internet has revolutionised the way we communicate, some experts argue that social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter undermine social skills and the ability to read body language. And a recent mental health study has revealed that women have never felt so lonely.
Edi Stark investigates how the internet and social-networking has empowered and transformed the lives of thousands of ordinary women and asks, "Is this technology is really our friend or can it actually be harming our health"?
