1970s documentary by celebrated filmmaker Christopher Nupen which tells the story of composer Georges Bizet and his most famous composition.

A failure when it premiered in Paris in 1875, Carmen is now regarded as one of the great stories in the history of Western music. But Bizet never lived to know that his opera would become one of the most popular of all time, dying of a heart attack at 36 just three months after the disaster of the opening night.

The film explores Bizet's most famous work and offers a revealing insight into the life of the great composer.
