Should heroin users be given drugs on prescription?

The Scottish Government's being urged to consider a scheme where addicts are given heroin in supervised clinics. Graham Stewart hears from former drug users and victims of drug-related crime.

The Scottish Government's being urged to consider trialling a scheme where addicts are given heroin in supervised clinics. It follows a pilot in England which has reported success in cutting crime and reducing street sales of drugs.

Scottish Drugs Forum director David Liddell says the results, together with findings from similar schemes in Europe, mean there is now "overwhelming" evidence in favour of having such a project. Graham Stewart takes calls from former drug users and victims of drug-related crime.
