Alan Bennett Remembers Richard Briers

Playwright Alan Bennett recalls working with Richard Briers on his adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows.

Playwright Alan Bennett's specially recorded personal and affectionate tribute to Richard Briers. Recalling when the National Theatre staged his adaptation of The Wind in the Willows, Alan describes how Richard went about embracing his character of Ratty. He explains that Richard did not have a star's ego. He thought of himself as a "jobbing actor and those are the best really".
