Northern Star chronicles the extraordinary life and work of Belfast born astrophysicist Jocelyn Bell, who in spite of failing the 11+ exam, continues to receive many honours and awards for her contribution to the world of science. In 1968 Bell helped to discover radio pulsars while working on her PhD in physics at Cambridge University. This discovery was so significant that it won the 1974 Nobel Prize, but unfortunately for Bell it was her supervisor who was awarded the honour. This sparked outrage across the scientific community which still rages today….
