Stromboli

A young Lithuanian woman (Ingrid Bergman) escapes from an Italian refugee camp by marrying a local fisherman, but finds life just as hard on his island home.

Moving drama about a young Lithuanian woman who escapes from an Italian refugee camp by marrying a local fisherman.

But she soon finds life just as hard on the tiny island of Stromboli where he lives. Suspected by him of being unfaithful during his absences at sea, and shunned by the xenophobic womenfolk, she is dismayed to find that she is pregnant - and makes a bid for freedom by running up the island's mountain, an active volcano.
