New Voices: Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Northampton
When you listen to the radio, do you ever think… I’d love to have a go at that? Well, now is your chance.
We’re holding auditions to find a new voice to be heard on the airwaves of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Northampton.
There’s no need to book. All you’ll need to do is a 60 second audition in front of our panel of judges.
You can use the 60 seconds to tell us a story – and it could be about anything you like. It could be something serious or funny, it could be something that’s happened to you or someone you know. Just make sure you are interesting – we don’t do dull!
We’ll try to see as many people as possible but we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to see everyone.
So what are you waiting for? We can’t wait to meet you!

Judges
- Aftab Gulzar, Editor, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Northampton
- Helen Blaby, Presenter, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Northampton
Helen remembers coming to an open day at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Northampton not all that long after the station opened. As she and her Dad left the building she told him that's where she wanted to work when she grew up.
The family moved to Cornwall in 1987 and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Cornwall ran a six week course teaching the basics of working in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Local Radio, after that Helen became one of the youngest people to work for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Local Radio.
Aged just 15 she made her presentation debut one Sunday afternoon. Following that she moved to Bristol and worked for both Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Bristol and Somerset Sound.... A stint at 5live followed - but some 20 odd years after that original conversation with her Dad, she's doing the job of her dreams and plans to stay doing it for as long as possible.
- Faryl Smith, Classical singer
Faryl Smith from Kettering started her career at the age of 12 on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent. Her success as a classical singer at a very young age created many exciting opportunities to perform both nationally and internationally for Royalty and at major sporting events.
Her first album became the fastest-selling solo classical album in British chart history, selling 29,200 copies in the first week.
- Billy Lockett, Northampton born Singer / Songwriter
After getting his music played on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Northampton's 'Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing' show Billy got airplay on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1, before being signed to a record label.
He’s previously toured with Lewis Capaldi and Electric Light Orchestra, and this year he headlined his own shows, as well as performing on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing stage at Glastonbury.
