HOW TO CHECK AND UPDATE PASSWORD SECURITY

Accessing Pre-Installed Password Managers

On Your Phone or Tablet

Apple Device:

To view your passwords:

Go to Settings > Passwords > Click on the key icon > Sign in to view passwords. ()

iOS18 or later > There is now a "Passwords" on your device to check this.

To check your passwords are synced on iCloud:

Go to Settings > Passwords and Keychain > Turn Sync this iPhone on. ()

Android Device using a Chrome browser:

To view your passwords: - Open Chrome > At the top right, tap the tree dots > Settings > Password Manager. ()

To check if passwords have been compromised:

Open Chrome > At the top right, tap the tree dots > Settings > Password Manager > Password Checkup. ()

To check your passwords are being saved:

Open Chrome > At the top right, tap the tree dots > Settings > Password Manager > at the top right, tap the cog > turn Offer to save passwords on or off. ()

On your Laptop or PC:

Macbook (iOS):

To view your passwords:

Press on the Apple menu icon in the top left corner > Click passwords > Sign in to view passwords. ().

To check your passwords are synced on iCloud:

Press on the Apple menu icon in the top left corner > System Settings or System Preferences > Click your name > iCloud > Turn on Passwords and Keychain. ()

Windows PC using a Chrome browser:

To view your passwords:

Open Chrome > At the top right, select Profile > Passwords

If you can’t find the Passwords icon, at the top right, select More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager > Press Checkup to view passwords. ()

To check your passwords are being saved:

Open Chrome > At the top right, select More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager > Settings > Check that Offer to save passwords is on. ()

HOW TO CHECKAPP PERMISSIONS

On your Phone or Tablet:

Apple Device:

To Check App Permissions:

Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking > You can now see a list of the apps that requested permission to track you. Turn permission on or off for any app on the list.

To stop all apps from asking permission to track you, turn off Allow Apps to Request to Track (at the top of the screen). ()

Android Device:

To Check App Permissions:

Settings > Apps > Tap on an app that you want to change > Permissions > Choose Allow or Don’t allow. ()

Settings > Security and Privacy Privacy Permission manager. Tap a permission type. If you allowed or denied permission to any apps, you'll find them here. To change an app's permission, tap the app, then choose your permission settings. ()

On your Laptop or PC:

Macbook (iOS):

To check your apps are up to date:

Open App Store > Click Updates in the sidebar > Click update beside each app you want to update, or click Update All. ()

To turn Automatic Updates on: - Open App Store > Settings > Select Automatic Updates. ()

To Check App Permissions:

Press on the Apple menu icon in the top left > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility > Turn permission on or off for any app in the list. ()

Windows (Microsoft Store):

To check apps are up to date:

Select Start > Microsoft Store > Click on the three dots to see more > Downloads and Updates > Click Get Updates. Any available updates will appear in the download queue and will automatically start downloading.

How to turn Automatic Updates on:

Select Start > Microsoft Store > Click on your profile > Settings > Ensure App Updates is turned on. Your apps will now update automatically. ()

To Check App Permissions:

Select Start > Privacy > Select the app > Choose which app permissions are on or off. ()
