Pop star and Kitchen Disco Queen, Sophie Ellis-Bextor has danced for an incredible 24 hours for Radio 2’s Â鶹ԼÅÄ Children in Need Challenge 2021.

During her 24 hour Kitchen Disco, Sophie was joined by a host of celebrity guests and Radio 2 presenters - both in person in the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio Theatre and via videolink – to give her huge support and encouragement as she raised funds for Children in Need.

Sophie’s Kitchen Disco became a huge sensation throughout the lockdown of 2020, lifting people’s spirits as they joined her, dancing and singing in their own kitchens across the UK. Since May last year, multiplatinum selling Sophie has also been hosting Kitchen Disco mixes on Radio 2 and Â鶹ԼÅÄ Sounds.

Also this year, all the music on Radio 2 between 7am and 5pm on Friday 19 November will be chosen by various Â鶹ԼÅÄ Children in Need projects from around the UK – a different project each hour. Later that day, the winner of the Sir Terry Wogan Fundraiser of the Year Award, as supported by Radio 2’s Michael Ball, will be announced on the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Children in Need Appeal show on Â鶹ԼÅÄ One.

Sophie’s challenge follows in the footsteps of 2020’s Joe Wicks 24 Hour PE Challenge which raised over £2.5 million for Â鶹ԼÅÄ Children In Need and Rylan’s Ka-Ry-Oke Challenge in 2019. Radio 2 also brought together some of the most iconic global artists for the official Â鶹ԼÅÄ Children in Need single last year, a reimagined cover of Oasis’ Stop Crying Your Heart Out (Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 2 Allstars).
