Gordon Buchanan

Gordon is a Scottish cinematographer who has been filming wildlife around the world for more than 30 years. He specialises in filming predators and has worked with lions in Kenya and leopards in India. Gordon is known for his close encounters with wildlife in the popular ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ programmes he presents, including the Family and Me and Tribes, Predators and Me series.

Favourite cat species I should say lion but every time I bump into a leopard their beauty takes my breath away.
Favourite cat We found an incredibly handsome male lion that had a horrendous injury to a rear leg. When I first met him he was a bag of bones. I thought he was breathing his last. Yet he found a way to survive.
Day or night filming? It’s such a different challenge that it’s hard to compare day and night. In many ways they are completely different worlds. Behaviour, activity, even the landscape seems to change after dark.
Best bush meal My house special is Okavango Overnight Oats. The recipe is top secret - but I can tell you that it has about ten ingredients and is so delicious that I put aside 40 minutes to eat it and luxuriate in is squidgy splendour.
