Frank Renton talks to popular band composer and arranger Darrol Barry.

Darrol, who now resides and works in Oman, is employed by the Royal Guard of Oman as Resident Composer and Arranger, a job that keeps him very busy writing and arranging music for all occasions and different combinations including bands, pipes and bands, fanfare teams and big band.

Darrol has also composed several substantial pieces for symphony orchestra including two symphonies.

That year not only saw the composition of Bowen's Piano Concerto No. 4, but also BartΓ³k's First Rhapsody, Ravel's Piano Concerto For The Left Hand, and Shostakovich's music for the silent film New Babylon.

Lou Stein's investigation into the connections between fatherhood and creativity continues with Booker-nominated author Abdulrazak Gurnah's emotional return to Zanzibar to see his elderly father. By making contact with him and his native land after a long period of absence, Gurnah was able to clearly focus his memories and his father's stories. He shared them with his daughters and then the world with the publication of his award-winning book Paradise.

This drama follows a hunt master and an anti-hunt protestor who find a fragile human connection despite their opposing positions.

Written by Anita Sullivan, it explores what is happening in the countryside in response to the Hunting Bill. During some four years researching the topic, Anita consulted hunt monitors, hunt saboteurs, animal welfare organisations, the police, hunt staff and supporters, as well as many other individuals including falconers, terrier men, vets and farmers.

Tim McInnerny plays the hunt master and Russell Tovey the anti-hunt protestor. The cast also includes Lucy Speed, Nicholas Boulton, Sam Dale and Tom Stanley.

After two years away, Alela Diane returns to play live for Marc Riley from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 6 Music London studio.
