Horrible Histories Free Family Prom – Saturday 30 July, 11am–1pm Royal Albert Hall

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Proms present the very first Horrible Histories Prom in 2011 – a visual and musical extravaganza offering families and children the chance to see and hear the cast of the CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s hit television series performing some of the most popular songs from the show, including The Plague, Divorced, Beheaded and Died!, and Charles II, King of Bling. The songs will be interspersed with classical music from different eras, by composers such as King Henry VIII, Lully and Mozart, as the cast take the audience on a humorous whistle-stop tour of the Horrible Histories' take on Classical music.

A 150-strong choir of extraordinary young people supported by the charity Kids Company and brought together especially for this event joins Richard Frostick's Music Centre choir to perform alongside the Aurora Orchestra conducted by Nicholas Collon. The Prom will be recorded for broadcast on both Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One and CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.

Free tickets are available from 8 July at bbc.co.uk/proms. Following the success of the first-ever signed Prom last year, Dr Paul Whittaker, Artistic Director of Music and the Deaf, returns to guide hard-of-hearing patrons through this free Prom.
