Eurovision Song Contest 2011: voting

Semi-final voting

  • Phone voting will be open from the start of the first song and ends 15 minutes after the last country has performed. Viewers cannot vote for their own country.
  • The scores given by each country are calculated with 50% made up of viewers' televoting and 50% by a national jury of music professionals.
  • The qualifying countries are then announced in no particular order.
  • The UK viewers will be able to vote in the first semi-final.
  • 10 countries from each semi-final will go through to the final.

The voting system for the final

  • Phone lines will be open from the start of the first song and end 15 minutes after the last country has performed. Viewers cannot vote for their own country.
  • The scores given by each country are calculated with 50% made up of viewers' televoting and 50% by a national jury of music professionals.
  • Once the televoting results and the jury results are combined, points are given out in the usual way. 12 points to the most popular, 10 to the second most popular, then 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point.
  • Spokespersons in all 43 countries will reveal the combined results.
  • The country with the highest number of points wins the 56th Eurovision Song Contest.
