Hounded – episode synopses

Colin McFarlane as Dr Muhahahaha

Episode one – Back Of The Sofa

Doctor Muhahahaha has been buying up space portals from Evil-Bay and secretly stashing them down the back of every sofa on Earth, as part of his plan to suck everyone into a Mega-Galactic Space Vacuum hidden somewhere in deep space, making our planet his playground.

Teaming up with Captain Gelina and Corporal Buck of the Starsheep Enterprise, (a giant "wool ship" in the shape of a sheep), Rufus comes up with a cunning plan to block Doctor Mu's giant vacuum by knitting the biggest sock in the universe. However between Dr Mu's Scissor Ships, the fact that no one actually knows where the Space Vacuum is and with Doctor Muhahahaha's hand hovering dangerously over the reset button, saving the world is not going to be an easy task....

Episode two – Rufus vs Rufus

Rufus finds himself face to face with a familiar looking enemy as once again he attempts to defeat the evil Dr Muhahahaha from taking over the multiverse.

Dr Mu has a new secret weapon – Kung Fu Ninja Teddy Bears. These cute looking creatures have been going undercover and collecting hair samples from the most important people on the planet, which Mu is then using to make evil clones.

However, when Rufus heads aboard Dr Mu's ship he makes an even more startling discovery. Dr Muhahahaha is so desperate to stop him from foiling his plan that he's cloned his very own Evil Rufus. And since Evil Rufus knows all Rufus' innermost thoughts and feelings he and Dr Muhahahah trap him in a cell with only one way out – through chambers which feature his three deepest, darkest fears.

So all Rufus has to do to save the planet is to conquer his own worst fears, battle a giant broccoli monster, defeat his evil clone, destroy Dr Muhahahaha's evil cloning device and prevent him from hitting his time-reversing Reset Button – it's just another day for the hapless TV presenter.

Episode three – Eggy Breath

Everyone on Earth has suddenly developed really bad breath and the evil Dr Muhahahaha is, of course, to blame.

Dr Mu has travelled to the Planet Flotsam, a junk asteroid made entirely from rubbish collected from the distant corners of the multiverse. From his orbit above the asteroid, Dr Mu is extracting the Grot Particle, the source of all bad smells, and beaming it down to Earth, where it is polluting the atmosphere and spreading like a virus, giving the whole population bad breath.

Can Rufus stop Dr Mu before the epidemic of eggy breath reaches toxic levels and the whole planet has to be evacuated?

Episode four – Look At The Stars

When his school friend Dr Wu (played by Eastenders' Nitin Ganatra) dares him to steal as many stars as possible, Dr Mu just can't resist. Desperate to impress his old arch enemy, there's one particular star Dr Muhahahaha wants more than any other – our Sun. So the evil doctor creates a giant, intergalactic wormhole to suck the Sun right out of space, which immediately causes havoc with the weather on Earth.

Meanwhile Rufus has beamed aboard the spaceship Solar 1 and, along with the crew, a space-tastic Buck and Gelina, is forced to trust a homemade Wormhole Warp Capacitor called "Bob" to help him save the Earth. But Dr Mu has other ideas and the whole crew is beamed aboard his ship where they face death by the smell of a thousand brussell sprouts.

Can Rufus save the world from an icy fate? And how on Earth is a tin of cat food from his Future Self going to help?

Episode five – Mu Pizza

Dr Mu's latest hair-brained plan is to invade the Earth using pizza. Harvesting the cheese mountains, giant tomatoes and olive groves of Princess Gelina's homeworld, Dr Mu has built up the biggest pizza chain in the multiverse. And with his profits he is constructing a giant, pizza-shaped starship capable of destroying whole worlds – the Death Pizza.

When Rufus lands on the planet Pizzeria he discovers a mysterious message from Princess Gelina for a rebel leader called Buck, who is leading the Pizzerian rebellion against the evil doctor and his army of Pizza-Troopers. Together, Rufus and Buck set out to rescue the Princess and destroy the Death Pizza before it – and Dr Mu – destroy the Earth.

Episode six – The Mu Show

In an attempt to conquer the last free planet in the universe by first winning the hearts and minds of its children, Dr Mu turns himself into Mu!, the lovable star of a new animated series, The Mu Show. Back on Earth, the programme's millions of viewers find themselves sucked into their TV screens and transported through the multiverse to a cartoon planet where they become animated versions of themselves.

The cartoon world's inhabitants are extremely upset to find millions of animated Earthlings dropping into their world and when an animated Rufus Hound arrives they enlist his help to defeat the evil cartoon Mu!

Episode seven – Terrorbyte

Dr Mu is stealing the internet! With IT systems going into meltdown all over the world, Rufus is transported in the icy wilderness of a social networking site called Puffin Portal, where he teams up with two fluffy avatars, Buck and Gelina. But when his new Puffin pals are deleted by Dr Muhahahaha, Rufus is trapped in the website.

Luckily, back on the Funlab set, Rufus' co-presenter Barry is online and spots Rufus on the Puffin Portal site. He emails Rufus as an attachment to the doctor's evil HQ, Mu Force One, where Rufus learns that Dr Mu is sucking the internet's vast data stream straight into a giant storage tank. He also learns that the internet could potentially be restored via its backup server, hidden in a secret location called The Cache.

Rufus escapes from Mu Force One and sets off to find The Cache, save the internet and restore his Puffin pals to their website.

Episode eight – Queen Mu

Confusion reigns on Earth as Queen Gertrude of Genovia sacks her cabinet, invites all the world's leaders to attend a conference at her palace and starts behaving very strangely. It soon emerges that Dr Mu has shrunk himself down to the size of a single bacteria, transported himself into her body and is now controlling her!

Rufus, who has sneaked on board Mu Force One and overheard the doctor's scheme, decides to go after him. Inside the Queen's body he teams up with a pair of Royal brain-cells who have been evicted from the Royal brain by Dr Mu. Together they set off on an incredible journey around the Queen's body. But when the Queen's yappy little dog arrives in the Palace, things don't go quite according to plan…

Episode nine – Toast-O-Lator

Dr Mu has invented a highly dangerous robotic toaster and is using the cloned workforce of his factory planet, Factorious, to mass-produce a robotic toaster army to take over the Earth. Every household on the planet has received a free Toast-O-Lator and all Dr Mu needs to do is activate his robotic toasters, sit back, and wait for world domination. Or so he thinks.

Meanwhile Rufus enlists the help of GELINA531608 and BUCK55318008, two factory clones who are rebelling against Dr Muhahahaha's brutal working practices on Factorious.

Can Rufus and the clones prevent the invasion of Earth? Will Steve ever get a word in edgeways? And will anyone spot the teensy weensy flaw in Dr Mu's scheme, or will the Earth be… toast?

Episode 10 – The Land Of Nod

Rufus is transported to the Dream Station, a giant space station in orbit above The Land of Nod, the land where all the dreams in the universe take place. Dr Muhahahaha has sabotaged the Dream Station and is gradually sending the Earth's population to sleep.

Buck and Gelina, the Dream Station technicians with responsibility for the Earth's dreams, tell Rufus of the planet's peril. To save the world from its waking nightmare, Rufus must travel to the Land of Nod and find a way to wake the world, armed only with an extremely stinky bag of cheese, mysteriously given to him by his Future Self.

Episode 11 – TV Hell

Dr Mu is launching a new evil product called the Mu Box, a games console that turns its unsuspecting customers into zombie-like creatures with TVs for heads. His plan is to create a terrifying Tellyhead army to conquer the world.

To advertise his creation, Dr Mu has enslaved Buck Fastness and Gelina Norglobb, the two biggest filmstars in the multiverse, shrinking them down inside a special TV set from which they are forced to broadcast his commercial. Rufus sets out to navigate the airwaves, defeat the Tellyheads, rescue Buck and Gelina and tell the world the truth about the Mu Box.

Episode 12 – Cash Or Kick Yourself

On Earth, record ratings are predicted for the hit new TV gameshow, Cash or Kick Yourself. Dr Mu is broadcasting different versions of the show to every civilised planet in the multiverse. Once he has taken over the airwaves he plans to activate his Hypnotron device, sending hypnotic mind control waves through every TV and video screen in the universe, reducing every viewer into a mindless couch-potato under his control.

Rufus finds himself forced to take part in Dr Mu's malevolent gameshow, with the evil Doctor himself as the host. To save the world, Rufus must successfully complete every round, evade the show's dubious mascot, Mr Blinko, and win the mystery prize.

Episode 13 – Super Rufus

The world's superheros have gone missing! The Earth is gripped by chaos, crimewaves and cats stuck up trees, unable to be rescued.

The evil Dr Muhahahaha is responsible, of course. He is on the Planet Invincible, holding auditions for a talent show called The Superhero Factor, designed to find the best Superhero in the multiverse. What he's actually doing is transporting the successful auditionees back to his evil HQ on Mu Force One where he is draining them of their powers in order to unite them in one supreme Super-being, himself.

Teaming up with a motley gang of superhero rejects, Rufus reluctantly pulls on a pair of extremely suspect underpants – courtesy of his Future Self – and heads to the Planet Invincible to save the day.
