Sassy and sophisticated contemporary dancer, who is addicted to buying vintage clothes.
Anabel has danced around the world, with numerous productions and companies, and has been on tour constantly for the past two years.
Originally training at the Northern Ballet School, her first job was dancing on Stars In Their Eyes. After graduating she landed a role in the West End company of The Phantom Of The Opera.
Since then she's performed as the White Queen in Chess In Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, Flashdance The Musical, Dorian Gray, as well as appearing in TV commercials and print ads.
Anabel was in two minds about entering the competition, but thought it would be such an amazing opportunity to learn other styles, and about herself.
Favourite song to dance to?
"Eighties music. A bit of Whitney Houston or Cyndi Lauper. I like to jump around and be silly – but usually in the privacy of my bedroom!"
Greatest dancing fear?
"I try not to have any. You can't have fears if you're a dancer."
Best physical feature?
"Bum!"
Worst habit in dance?
"I always have to check my moves in front of a mirror. I am a perfectionist and I need to see what other people can see. There is never an exception – I will always find a chance to do it – you'll probably find me in the bathroom going over everything just to give me that bit more confidence."
On-stage most embarrassing moment?
"When I was in Phantom Of The Opera there is an amazing scene called Masquerade. I used to play the gypsy and I used to have this huge hard hat – it was more like a helmet. On the first time my friends ever came to see me in my first ever job, my helmet fell off and was being kicked all around the stage, while I had to run around chasing it in a stocking cap! But I like it when things go wrong – it's hilarious!"
How did you got into dance?
"I started ballet when I was three, and carried it on from there."
Where did you train?
"I trained at the Northern Ballet School from when I was 16 to 18. I started working when I was 19."
What is your favourite type of dance?
"I love ballet, but since starting the show I love the hip-hop! I want to be good at it – but so far I'm terrible!"
What is it like working on a TV show?
"It's amazing – such good fun! I'm used to the set up and the cameras as I've done a lot of adverts before. I like the buzz."
Have you bonded with the other contestants?
"Yeah, definitely. I've worked with a few of them before so it's nice continuing the friendships."
Are the judges as scary as they seem?
"So far they haven't petrified me – but I'm sure they will!"
What are your future plans?
"To take every day as it comes. I just want to continue dancing."
Why did you enter the competition?
"I don't like ever being too settled. I like a challenge!"
