Radio York's Jonathan Cowap broadcasts live from the Fourth Plinth

Jonathan Cowap on the plinth in Trafalgar Square

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio York's Jonathan Cowap marked his place in the history books today when he broadcast from the top of the empty Fourth Plinth in London's Trafalgar Square.

The Lunchtime Show presenter was randomly chosen as one of 2,400 people invited to stand on the plinth for an hour over a 100-day period – as part of One & Other, a living sculpture by Angel of the North creator Antony Gormley.

Jonathan said: "It was a brilliant experience. When my 60 minutes were over I didn't want to come down.

"I'd spent a whole hour concentrating on doing the live show and I didn't really have enough time to take in the fact that I was 22 feet up in Trafalgar Square.

"I seriously hope that more people from this region apply for a place on the plinth to make sure that the North is properly represented.

"I have been really amazed by the response from Radio York listeners – I've had so many enthusiastic calls, texts and emails about the whole One & Other Project and our involvement in it."

Jonathan can be heard weekdays between 12noon and 3.00pm on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio York on 103.7, 104.3 and 95.5 FM.
