Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1 DJs Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens revealed the line-up for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing stage at Glastonbury 2009 last night.

From Friday 26 to Sunday 28 June the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing stage will be a feature of the festival showcasing 24 up-and-coming artists and bands from around the UK. This is the third time Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing has been at Glastonbury – the first Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing stage was launched at the festival in 2007.

Jason Carter, Editor, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing, says: "We're really looking forward to taking Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing to Glastonbury once again and, as always, we have a very strong line-up of artists and bands for the stage, sourced from across the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.

"Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing provides new unsigned artists the opportunity to perform at one of the world's largest and most famous music festivals. All the artists' performances from the stage over the weekend are then broadcast across our platforms – local and network radio and online. If you are an artist looking for a break or the next step, then Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing is the destination for you."

As well as sets streamed online, and across Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Local Radio, highlights of performances from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing stage at Glastonbury will be broadcast on Huw Stephens' Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing show on Radio 1 on Wednesday 1 July at 9.00pm.

He says: "Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing is all about bringing brand new names to the forefront, giving them a platform to expose their music to as many as possible.

"The artists selected to play Glastonbury this year all have one thing in common; they're all excellent. There's a real wide variety of styles this year; indie and hip hop, grime and folk, electro and rootsy, dubstep and the downright groovy. There's something for all the music fans at Glasto 09!"

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ has extensive coverage of Glastonbury 2009 across TV, radio, and online, with digital radio station Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 6 Music offering continuous coverage during the festival hours of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Details and additional content at bbc.co.uk/glastonbury.

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing stage is now present at key UK music festivals throughout the year including T in the Park and Reading/Leeds, and there are is a network of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing shows on Radio 1, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 1Xtra, 6 Music, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Asian Network and across more than 30 local Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio stations.

Musicians can upload their music at bbc.co.uk/introducing for the possible opportunity of being broadcast on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio, which could lead to a slot on one of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing stages.

The Heroes – Leicester
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Leicester, The Heroes are four 19-year-old lads from Leicester. They're a little bit punk and a little bit indie, with influences ranging from The Libertines to the Arctic Monkeys to The Clash and, according to their MySpace, Kate Bush and Lady Gaga, which are less obvious! They've got gigs in Leicester, Cleethorpes, Gloucester and London coming up over the summer.

Cashier No.9 – Belfast
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Northern Ireland, they're a guitar rock band made up of four from Belfast. They've supported the Ting Tings and Snow Patrol and have a single out now on Only Gone records.

Sparrow And The Workshop – Glasgow
Recommended by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Scotland, the band are a Scottish/Welsh/American three-piece from Glasgow. Formed last year, they play folky music with male and female lead vocals and have loads of gigs coming up over the summer.

Two Door Cinema Club – Bangor
Put forward by Huw Stephens, Two Door Cinema Club are a Bangor/Donaghadee based electro-pop band from Northern Ireland. Something Good Can Work is their debut single, out now on the Kitsune label, and they're playing loads of festivals over the summer including the Isle of Wight and V Festival.

Louise Golbey – London
Recommended by Ras Kwame on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔgrown, Louise is a London-based singer-songwriter. Ras first heard tracks she uploaded at bbc.co.uk/introducing, and now she's playing Glastonbury. Her music is a bit soul, a bit jazz, with a voice to rival Adele. She's already performed at two of the country's top jazz venues, Ronnie Scott's and the Jazz Cafe in London, and her single The Sea And Me is available now for download.

Colorama – Cardiff
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Cymru, Colorama come from Cardiff. Folky, whimsical multi-instrumentalists – they have five main members but several others that help out here and there. Their single Sound is out now on Redbrick Recordings.

KoOF – Liverpool
Supported by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Merseyside, KOF is Kofi Owusu – an MC from Liverpool. His track Jump is his version of the classic Jump Around track by House of Pain. He's shared the stage with artists such as Roll Deep and Skinnyman, and is heavily influenced by old skool hip-hop and the Eighties. He is currently working on his debut album due for release in October.

Engine Earz – London
Recommended by the Asian Network. Engine-EarZ is really producer Prashant Mistry, who has produced such artists as Jenna G, Skitz, Jah Mason, Dynamite MC, and Rodney P. He fuses traditional Indian sounds with heavy basslines to create his dance tracks and has got gigs coming up in Reading and Birmingham in June.

2.00pm Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing stage starts

10k runner – Shropshire
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Shropshire, the band are based in Shrewsbury. They started out playing indie covers of bands like Oasis and The Kooks although they're now concentrating on writing their own music.

Kid Bass – London
Put forward by Ras Kwame, Kid Bass is a collective of young producers led by 24-year-old North London rapper Sincere. Sincere says he's been writing music since he was nine years old.

Rogues – London & Wales
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Hereford & Worcester, but hailing from Harrow and Aberystwyth, Rogues are a foursome which includes three brothers. They play guitar-synth indie-pop and their debut single Not So Pretty is available now. They're playing the Isle of Wight and V Festivals over the summer.

The Alfonz – Wiltshire
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Wiltshire, The Alfonz hail from Swindon. Adam, Charlie and Sam from the band are childhood friends who met at school and they've been playing together as a band for four years. They play shouty guitar rock.

Goldenheart Assembly – London
London-based, and with Steve Lamacq as a big supporter, Goldheart Assembly are an all-male six-piece, putting close harmonies together with some beardy folk to create something not dissimilar to Fleet Foxes. With backing from the likes of Lamacq and the NME, they’ve got a big summer of gigs and festivals ahead of them.

King Charles – London
London-based, and supported by Huw Stephens. The band is the brainchild of one man, who calls himself King Charles, but he gets in various other musicians to help out with instruments and electronics. Before King Charles, Charles had formed the band Adventure Playground who toured with Laura Marling and Noah and the Whale. His single Time Of Eternity/Beating Hearts is out on Mi7 records.

Speech Debelle – London
Supported by Huw Stephens and Ras Kwame. Speech Debelle is a 26-year-old female vocalist/rapper from South London. She mixes hip-hop with folkier elements like strings and guitars, writing autobiographical and personal songs – her first single was about living in a hostel in her early twenties. Her debut album is out this month on Big Dada, and features Roots Manuva.

Vienna Ditto – Berkshire
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Berkshire, Vienna Ditto are a three-piece fronted by female singer Hatty Taylor. Hard to describe their sound, which mixes a bit of Fifties surf with a kind of dark gothic edge... best described by Radio 1's own Huw Stephens as "Portishead doing a Tarantino soundtrack" which is very apt.

2.15pm Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing stage starts

The 1,2,3,4's – Manchester
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Manchester. None of them is actually from Manchester but they are based there and have been playing there together as a band since they formed in 2007. They are fronted by singer Caroline Thorp and play what they describe as "symphonic pop" – with sounds of Sixties psychedelia and rock thrown in for good measure. Their single You Do Something To Me is available to download.

Andreya Triana – London
Put forward by Ras Kwame, Andreya is a soulful singer-songwriter from Brighton. On her MySpace page she says she likes to sing, eat chicken, laugh, dream, strum her guitar and write songs and her debut album is due out soon.

Dimbleby & Capper – London
Supported by Huw Stephens, Dimbleby & Capper is based in London. Despite the name she is in fact a solo artist whose real name is Laura Bettinson. The sound is tuneful electronic pop with maybe a hint of Lily Allen and she's got a several gigs in London over the summer.

Fists – Nottingham
Fists are from Nottingham and were put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Nottingham. A four-piece, they say they're influenced by skiffle, folky outsider Daniel Johnstone and comic books. Label Hello Thor has put out their single Cockatoo/Skit.

Essay Like Nephew – Suffolk
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Suffolk, Essay Like Nephew are a guitar-pop four-piece with catchy melodies. Now in their early twenties, they met at school when they were 16. Their track China Pop is included on a compilation by TipToe Records out now.

Kobi Onyame – London/Glasgow
Recommended by Ras Kwame, Kobi is a 26-year-old UK based, Ghanaian hip-hop producer. He's influenced by the likes of Snoop Dog, Dr Dre and Jay Z and his track Nobody Fault But Mine uses a Nina Simone sample. Though still unsigned he's shared a live bill with Wiley, Akon and Kanye West and played the Picturehouse with De La Soul on 5 June.

States Of Emotion – Essex
Put forward by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in Essex, States of Emotion are an indie-rock foursome from London and the south-east. They say they're inspired by Kasabian, The Rolling Stones and Kings of Leon, among others, and are evidently aiming for a similar stadium-filling epic sound.

Life In Film – London
Chosen by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Introducing in London, Life In Film are a four-piece from Hackney in East London. They say their influences range from Bruce Springsteen to post-punk – there's definitely a touch of Kings of Leon about lead singer Samuel Fry's style as well. They've played with the Kooks, Starsailor and Air Traffic and their current single Sorry is out now to download or as limited edition 7".
