CBeebies announced today a major new in-house commission. ZingZillas (52 x 22 minutes) goes into production this month, shooting at Pinewood Studios until December 2009.

Swinging onto CBeebies in Spring 2010, the show's energetic primates will get under-sixes across the nation making music... ZingZilla-style!

The rocking new series is produced by series producer Tony Reed and executive producers Alison Stewart and Kay Benbow.

ZingZillas was commissioned by Michael Carrington, Controller of CBeebies.

He says: "It's time for a new kind of music show on CBeebies which will funk up the channel and get all of our toddlers and tots grooving on down to the ZingZillas sound.

"From operatic arias to jumping, jiving tunes, ZingZillas will be the new name in music for the under-sixes."

CBeebies remains the most watched and loved channel for the under-sixes, with almost half of the target audience tuning in each week (parents and carers with children aged 0-3 and 4-6 year olds in digital homes) it reaches well over double (almost three times) the audience of its pre-school competitors.

The CBeebies website regularly reaches almost a million weekly users and reached more than one million unique users in the UK during the first week of February 2009, a record for the site.
