The FA Cup 3rd Round on Radio 5 Live

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 5 Live will have all the action from the massive weekend of thrills, spills and shocks that is the FA Cup 3rd Round.

Radio 5 Live will have the widest range of analysis and live commentary from eight games and roving reporters at all the cup ties.

FA Cup 3rd Round live commentaries

  • Friday 2 January 2009
  • Tottenham v Wigan, 8.00pm
  • Saturday 3 January
  • Hartlepool v Stoke City, 1.00pm
  • Macclesfield v Everton, 3.00pm, then 5 Live jumps around the grounds following all the goals stories and issues as they happen
  • Preston v Liverpool, 5.25pm
  • Arsenal v Plymouth, 5 Live Sports Extra, 3.00pm
  • Sunday 4 January
  • Gillingham v Aston Villa, 1.30pm
  • Southampton v Manchester United, 4.00pm
  • Monday 5 January
  • Blyth Spartans v Blackburn Rovers, 8.00 pm

The big weekend starts on Friday 2 January when Phil Williams, standing in for Simon Mayo, will convene the sports panel to look ahead to the coverage on 5 Live before the first commentary game, Tottenham v Wigan, at 8.00pm.

Radio 5 Live will have all the action from across the country as the weekend unfolds with a roving mic from all the key games as well as live commentary from iconic FA Cup commentator John Motson.

This year John celebrates the 40th anniversary of his first national radio sports broadcast.

Motty – who has called more than 30 FA Cup finals in his prestigious career as well as the memorable commentary of Ronnie Radford's goal against Newcastle for Hereford in the 1972 FA Cup 4th round – will be behind the mic for 5 Live's commentary of Southampton versus Manchester Utd on 4 January.
